Fulton Market Kitchen Aims to Feature Great Food and Fine Art
FULTON RIVER DISTRICT — A new restaurant opening at 311 N. Sangamon St. later this month hopes to expose its patrons to great food and fine art, with roots at Ceres' Table, Sunda, Rockit, Naha and more.
Fulton Market Kitchen is set to open March 21. Early images of the space and menu showcase a gritty dining room with exposed brick and pipes, a more refined lounge area stocked with tufted leather sofas, and an ingredient-driven menu centered on meat and seafood.
Daniel Alonso, who designed the space, said in a written statement that the vision was to build an "artist-friendly and collaborative channel for the vibrant local art community."
The restaurant and lounge will rotate its artwork every two months "to exhibit, educate and sell" new artists' work, Alonso said.
The restaurant has tapped James Gottwald of Sunda, Rockit and the cheesesteak-focused Monti's to serve as executive chef, with Kyle Petersen of Naha and Ceres' Table as chef de cuisine.
The "globally inspired" menu of small plates and full-sized entrees is paired with a craft beer and cocktail menu and "extensive" wine list, according to the statement.
